I don't think that it is simply the power elite in Norway who misuse psychiatry; i think many different power elites across the world have and continue to misuse psychiatry against their political opponents.

It is one reason why I am such a supporter of the principle of Habeus Mentem: The Right to Legal Sanity.

If any political elite -- of any ideology -- is not capable of hearing criticism and addressing the facts upon which such criticism is founded; then they do not deserve to be in political power.Andrea Muhrrteynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13455575591213217060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2238880389442028.post-5780891149760433292011-12-21T22:34:12.735+02:002011-12-21T22:34:12.735+02:00This tradition for the power to misuse psychiatry ...This tradition for the power to misuse psychiatry against political opponents has a long tradition i n Norway. Here is how a norwegian doctor helped the naziz in ww2, by declaring the resistance movement as a special unknown type of psychopath, the "jøssingmus psychopathic us" !

http://www.sakkyndig.com/psykologi/artvit/hanseng.pdfRune Fardalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07480713032937336684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2238880389442028.post-72798706264124600122011-12-18T15:22:00.252+02:002011-12-18T15:22:00.252+02:00Thank you for bringing attention to psychiatric ab...Thank you for bringing attention to psychiatric abuses in Norway. Psychiatric coercion is a serious problem here. It was admitted in the news here recently that coercing neuroleptics into psychiatric inmates kills them 20-30 years earlier than they otherwise would have died, yet the forcible drugging continues unabated. A friend of mine described how eight men came and restrained him when he refused to swallow his pills. Psychiatry may also be used as a political weapon occasionally, but the situation is actually better for violent criminals than harmless, hapless victims of the system. Breivik is still not being drugged, and the entire country if not the world is scrutinizing and mocking the diagnosis given by two court-appointed psychiatrists. This diagnosis may well be reversed and he might never be chemically tortured. The medical personnel who actually see him in the prison do not feel he is insane or needs to be poisoned. Most people preyed on by psychiatry are not so lucky. A regular patient is not even entitled to appeal his diagnosis! Only questioning the appropriateness of a given type of treatment for that diagnosis is allowed, and usually the patient loses. The vast majority of psychiatric coercion is employed simply to get the patient to comply with treatment, not because the patient is dangerous to himself or others or has committed any crime. Indeed, I would recommend becoming a criminal (I would try to kill a guard or cop) if you are ever a victim of psychiatric coercion in Norway, because criminals have more rights and you might escape treatment and get to go to a prison instead. Psychiatry is the worst fate our state can impose on a person. I would consider myself a dead man walking if I was ever forced to take neuroleptics and all the energy left in this body would go towards a bloody revenge.

The honest way to go about it, for those who support psychiatric coercion, would be to get the mind states they believe people should be coerced for into criminal law. Take the DSM-IV diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia or whatever and pass a law criminalizing such conditions, and make psychiatric "treatment" the punishment. Then there would have to be a regular trial, and only upon conviction by a jury could coercion commence. Cruel and unusual punishment it would be and I don't in any way condone criminalizing thoughtcrimes, but at least it would be better than doctors having the power to instigate psychiatric coercion on their own.Eivind Bergehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04899250633318059069noreply@blogger.com
