Complaint submitted to Press Complaints Commission (PCC) against New Statesman: Åsne Seierstad: Article: The grotesque manipulations of Anders Breivik; Violation of Editors Code: 1. Accuracy.

This complaint relates to the following statements made by Ms. Seierstad in her article: The grotesque manipulations of Anders Breivik:

So, how do we handle the man who is truly guilty? Are we prepared to punish the culprit in keeping with the standards of his crime?

In the letters, Breivik explained how he plans to keep fighting against the values of Norwegian society. Those same values that gave him a fair trial, lax treatment in prison and even the right to keep spreading his message.

If truth be told, there is something Mr. Breivik fears way more than an insanity verdict; that an EcoFeminist’s efforts on behalf of his right to a free and fair trial, will eventually be successful.

The former is perhaps best summed up in my “Rape is equality” post, and the latter includes criminal (and civil) sex accusations as well as anything to do with divorce, paternity fraud, child support and custody, etc.”

The Bergen blogger was arrested outside his home on Wednesday, July 4, 2012. The arresting Officers also seized cartridges and books on explosives. Berge's lawyer Henrik Birkeland said the cartridges were acquired by Berge when he was a boy, and books related to Berge's military service, hence neither have any context to the case in general. Berge was remanded the day after his arrest, and police filed for custody of 4 weeks with letters and restraining orders. This was not upheld at the detention meeting in Hordaland County Court, but Eivind Berge was remanded into custody for two weeks.

“Of course, men always compete for women, with each man preferring to keep all the pussy for himself. Anders Breivik, Anti-Feminist MRA?

As we absorb the shock of what happened last week in Oslo and Utoya, we’re also starting to get a clearer picture of mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik, now in Norwegian police custody. His manifesto, which largely consists of uncited work from a host of other right-wing thinkers, is now available online. 2083: A European Declaration of Independence gives us a picture of a man who is deeply troubled by multi-culturalism, by Islam, by modernity, by feminism, and by what has happened to traditional masculinity.

Breivik’s manifesto features an extended section called “Radical Feminism and Political Correctness,” cribbed uncredited from an American writer named Gerald Atkinson. The section complains “that the ‘man of today’ is expected to be a touchy-feely subspecies who bows to the radical feminist agenda.” Feminism’s aim, the manifesto continues, is to “emasculate” men, and render them “unwilling to defend traditional beliefs and values.”

This rage at women in general, and at progressive feminists in particular, runs through much of the long and unwieldy 1187-page text. It’s a rhetoric familiar to anyone who reads the writing of Men’s Rights Activists.
